Ready for the future: Mercedes ServiceCard in new design opens up additional target groups

In Germany, the Mercedes ServiceCard, which in 2017 was voted "Best Brand" in the category "Fuel Cards above 11 Commercial Vehicles", enjoys an excellent reputation. The company, which specialises in the cashless provision of en-route services, is now stepping up its European business with a focus on eastern Europe. This goes hand-in-hand with a new card design.

The new Mercedes ServiceCard opens the door to new target groups and new markets. After its launch on 1 July 2017, the card will be usable at all correspondingly identified points of acceptance, i.e. service stations or filling stations with the UTA logo.

For the company, the focus on Europe along with the widening of the target group presents an opportunity, after 16 years, to update the design of the card. The portraits on the front of the card of Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, who are little known outside Germany, have been replaced by the Mercedes star and the dynamic motif of a road at night. The flowing movement of the road motif suggests a safe, positive driving experience, while the night-time situation conveys the unlimited availability of services, any time, anywhere – especially with Mercedes-Benz Service24h.

The star makes it immediately apparent, in any language, which family the Mercedes ServiceCard belongs to. Also, the black background and typography quickly establish an association with Mercedes-Benz, whose CD guidelines served as a basis for the new card design. All in all, the new look is considerably classier as well as more modern and dynamic – as customers would expect from their premium brand.

The "new" card also provides companies with a wider-ranging Mercedes-Benz fleet with access to the familiar services – such as low-cost, cashless refuelling in the UTA acceptance network at over 40,000 service stations in Europe, easy payment of toll charges in 24 European countries, e-invoicing, 14-day billing service for maximum transparency and cost control as well as reimbursement of sales/mineral oil tax paid while abroad. The service highlight is without doubt the accelerated Mercedes-Benz Service24h, which is available in this form only with the Mercedes ServiceCard. This service makes for even better mobility on the road: in the event of an international breakdown, the card allows easier and therefore faster coordination of the repair services – with absolutely no processing charge or service surcharges.
